Working With Individuals

Chrysalis therapists will not give you advice or solve your problems. They will listen, help you understand and empower you to make the positive changes in your life. Therapy takes place in a safe and confidential space, where you will feel comfortable to talk openly, in a non-judgmental environment. You may work through negative thoughts and/or behaviours that you want to change.

Effective counselling will decrease depressive and anxiety symptoms, improve interpersonal relationships, setting clear and supportive boundaries. Coping skills are developed in the long term and working with your therapist to develop a plan to cope, can also help.

It can take several sessions before you start to see progress, but you should gradually start to feel better with the help and support of your therapist. You may be offered a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months, or a longer course that lasts for several months or years.

Walking therapy session

Chrysalis Walking Therapy – “counselling in motion”

Breathe in the fresh air and address your mental and physical wellbeing!

This counselling session takes place outdoors, walking side by side with your therapist, not in a traditional therapy room. Walking together, at your place, can be less intrusive, feel more equal, less intimidating and release inhibitions.

The physical act of walking helps release tension and stimulate new thoughts and ideas. This type of therapy is proven to reduce blood pressure, reduce risk of diabetes, improve strategic thinking, enhance creativity, reduce anxiety, alleviate stress, improve anger issues and reduce levels of depression.

The first session will be online or face to face, where you will go through the counselling agreement with your therapist, discussing areas of confidentiality and how we will conduct the walk.
